- City area codes have 2-4 digits, phone numbers have 6-8 digits.
- Area codes: Beijing (10), Shanghai (21)
- To call China from the States, dial 011 + 86 + Area code + Number.

- For Mainland
- 110 - Police
- 119 - Fire
- 120 - Ambulance
- For Hong Kong or Macau
- 999 - All Emergencies
